Dr. Vinita Chiranand is a proud native Texan, born and raised in Houston, and is honored to now call Plano her home as she delivers exceptional eye care to the community.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Chiranand earned her doctorate in optometry, graduating magna cum laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry. During her time at the University of Houston, Dr. Chiranand was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, and she was awarded clinical letters of excellence for her work in both the Pediatrics and Family Practice clinics. Her academic dedication also earned her recognition for her grand rounds paper on acute angle-closure glaucoma, which was selected for publication by the Institute of Optometric Practice.
Dr. Chiranand completed her clinical internship at Cedar Springs Eye Clinic in Dallas, where she gained extensive hands-on experience managing ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye syndrome. She also provided comprehensive eye care for underserved populations, further strengthening her commitment to accessible, high-quality vision care.
Dr. Chiranand is licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist by the Texas Optometry Board. In addition, she is an active member of both the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Chiranand enjoys traveling, exploring new cuisines, and spending time at local parks, theaters, and museums. She’s also a dedicated volunteer at a local animal shelter. In her spare time she enjoys relaxing at home with her partner, Brian, and their two spoiled cats, Moogle and Waffles.
